I Need Help!.....You will not believe this...

Hello Kevin, thanks for the comment. At least something substantial.
will check with some of my 'fishrod' friends and the web. Might be the best option indeed, putting in a lake again for fishing.

Hello again.
after yesterday work, we setup a temporary pond. Used sandbags to build a meter deep pond, trailer cover as liner pulled up at all sites to a metal frame that's inside the sandbag pond-walls. So jumping should have him roll back in the pond.
Put a drainage pump with a hose closed at the end and many slits in the hose for circulation.
guess next week some time to build a quick and dirty filter from a water drum.

Pond is about 2x2 meter and the transfer went smooth.
happy camper now, beautiful fish.
Now I thought of building a bigger permanent pond next to the factory but my 'big boss' disagrees.
He told me to build one at home and send him the bill for it...:ROFL:This fish really brings luck it seems.
so for now, it has to survive the first couple of weeks. No idea how good or bad his condition, but he readily ate some meat this morning, good sign.

Next step, suggestions for a proper permanent pond?

I have a space available of approx. 3.5 meter X 4.5 meter. Has maybe an hour per day direct sunlight and is right under a very big window, so I can enjoy the fish from all sides.

Suggestions as to dept, filters, anything else, please start sending it.
the fish is now somewhere between 3 & 4 feet.

Thanks
Luc

That is crazy! I bet that big pima can eat a pound of fish/meat and still be hungry. GL on building it a home Luc

Tried some prawn and a hotdog, but not touching it yet. Might still be restless. Will try some feeders on Monday.. And the pund..yes, need some firm details on its food qty and so on.G

Good Thing I live in Thailand where fish is cheap and abundant...

Question for arapaima keepers. How many times a week you feed?

Wow, i wish i had a boss that would let me bill him for a pond build, the boss must be just about as badass as the fish lol. I look forward to seeing how this goes.

Pictures of our friend in his new home...
Transfer yesterday went real smooth, he looked like a happy camper in there.
Now getting feeder fish and tomorrow have a look again.
Sides pulled up to make sure he doesn't get scared and jumps.

Enjoy the pictures.

So now, I need to at least start planning on a pond at my home.
I have a space of maximum 3.6m x 3.7m available.
Still need to check other things, but if I'd build that pond at about 1.5m deep, my volume would be just under 20,000 liter or 5,200 Gallon (US)..

Rectangular shape, filters can all be out of view and separate from the pond or under a deck at one side of the pond.
Could also use the space under that deck as covered part of the pond, making the pump L-shaped.
It's a cramped area, between two originally separate houses. One of which I am signing the documents for tomorrow, the other one I live in already.

Will need to start checking on building structure again to see what to account for.
Sure it will need piling under the pond and a very thick concrete slap to support.
There's some measuring and checking to be done for sure.

Any advise, plans, tips... please start sending them.

I wonder how much longer it will live.........

Big question-mark indeed.
5-6 weeks in that storm drain might have accumulated a hell of a lot of toxic materials in his body.
Positive is that that same drain was full with hundreds of small fish, so he obviously was well fed for most of the period.
No sure thing yet..just praying he makes it.

For the pond, another option is to make the pond about 7 meters long and just shy of 2 meters wide.
That would give him the same water volume with more stretch to swim.
Plans starting to form, but need a lot of homework..
