Need Filter Recommendation for 50Gal Tank

HI All,

Looking to replace the hang-on glass filter that my 4ft - 50gal(200Ltr) tank came with.

Was looking at Fluval 305 or something similar. Anyone have any recommendations?

At moment I only have 2 convicts in the tank - hoping to add a few more cichlids at some stage.

I had a fluval 405 on a 55g and liked it. The price difference between a 305 & 405 is small so you might as well go 405, especially since the 06 series is out and the 05 series are going for dirt cheap.

Fluval or I would look at the eheim 2217.

well, ive done some reading on both....seem very similar.

I can get the Fluval 405 for $275(AUD) each plus shipping or the Eheim 2217 for $240(AUD) inc shipping....im leaning towards the eheim only because of the price (the cheaper it is, the better chance i have of spending the money, she wont mind so much)

Will be looking at buying two, one for the convicts tank and one for my murray cod tank...

Tank is 121cm (L) x 36cm(W) x 46cm(H) = 200ltrs(52gal)....

personally if eheim are cheaper for you in AUS then get eheim.. i have used both kinds and i personally like eheims compared to fluvals..

Well I have just ordered the eheim 2217 - got it for $175 aud.

Whats the setup process like? Easy, complicated....will i need a carton of beer to help.
