At what size does the Flagtail Prochilodus start to show its full colors in tail?
I have one about 4" in size. The black stripes are there in the tail but the red color is not there still. The pelvic fins has light red color but everywhere else it is black and silver only. How long do I have to wait to see the full colors?

Any input on this Flagtail owners, Please?
I have attached a picture of the Bastard. He has killed his partner who came in with him, then tried to commit suicide by jumping out (fortunately somebody was around) and still tries to knock off the lid while trying to kill his own image through the glass.DSC00376.JPGDSC00372.JPG

when i recieved my order of 5 from john, they were all around 3-3.5" and it didnt take to much loger for them to start coloring up. i had to rehome them with my lil brother and the dominant one soon killed off 2 of the smaller ones. they tend to be little pains in the @$$...ill see if i can get some pics to post of them for u

Unfortunately not all Flagtails have much red coloration. Hopefully yours colors up for you, mine had a red tail when I bought it at about 3.5".

I think it will depends on the environment rather than size. Oh well I put mine in the pond, thats why I could see the full color of my flagtail.

Hmmm, The only reason I bought this guy was for the red tail, after seeing the pictures of Flagtails in this forum. I really hope he'll color up for me.:(

Does any of you guys have a Flagtail that is more than 6" in size and does not have red/yellow Coloration in the Tail? If so can you please post a picture?

Here's mine when he was about 7". I sold him, so I don't know how big he is now, but he had really nice color.

I wish I could help, but mine had full color when I bought him at 4"... he's 18" now. The only change was that he lost his juvi spots and now has more tail stripes.
