hey i have had my turtle for a while and i just added a jack Dempsey about 3 weeks ago, they are both doing fine and are acting normal.
but i went to change the water today the water by my turtles basking area looked like there's a thin layer of oil on the water.
i'm just wondering what caused this and if its anything i should be worried about.
thank you for any help

It could very well be an oil or protein layer. Do you have anything to break up the surface tension? Air stone, overflow, etc.? You might need to do more water changes.

ive had the same prop the water changes will help no doubt helped my water to perfection=)

I think what happened was that the floating log i have was hitting the basking area and blocking off the water circulation in that area. so i have moved the output of my filter to keep the log from blocking that area off.
thank you for your reply
