Hi All,

I have a 4ft tank that at current has a pair of convicts.

I'm wanting to add a few more cichlids to the tank but not real sure of what to look at, only new to keeping cichlids.

Was thinking in the range of peacocks, firemouth & Electric Blue Ram.
Also like the look of Green Terrors & Jack Dempsey but have read they can be pretty aggressive.

Can anyone give me some advice or any other recommendations?

Cheers
Dan

JD and GT get far to big and aggressive to be with a pair of convicts in a 4ft tank. Is the tank 75 gallons? 1-2 Firemouth might work. Rams are not an option. because cichlids are so unpredictable. I would be prepared for the worst. How many gallons?

Its 200ltrs - i think thats around the 50gal...correct me if Im wrong.

I think 1 FM and the convicts would max it out. Just remember. Be prepared to return or move the FM if there are problems. But if I were you I would try it.

I wouldn't try any more fish with a pair of convicts...

i would have tried a gt

If the convicts are a mating pair, you will have trouble with tank mates, if not (2 females, 2 males) you should be fine with something like a firemouth. Rams, I would say would be no good for the mix. 4 foot isn't small but it isn't huge, I think with a non mated pair you may even be able to get away with something like a rotkiel severum, depending on filtration.

Also, watch put for the firemouth, I had one (male) in with my female convict and he constantly chased her, had to move him to my big tank.
