What a beautiful tank. What did you use for substrate? My apologies if you posted this already but I could not find it.

Hi,

Many thanks for the compliment.....I used ADA Amazonia New Type...No worries. I post SO much detail it is easy to get lost among the details....It was in the list of components in the first thread :)

Really love the tank! Reminds me of an Amano Takashi design, which is one of my favorite planted styles.

Truly a work of art!

Hi,

Thanks so much for the nice compliments! I admire Mr. Amano's designs as do you and many others... I think Tom did a great job with the scape. My gardening is finally starting to come around and enhance it...

I just discovered this thread while looking for ideas for my 3 gallon nano.
Although on a much smaller scale I plan to use some of your set up ideas, especially the 360* viewing.

A monster fish keeper with a nano ? How does THAT work? lol Can you still be a member here, or is the membership revoked? lol

Yes, the 360 is the bomb. While you can't really sit back there, as if on a couch, you can use a small stool/chair quite easily. Always something new to see with the many POV...

I commend you (and of course Tom Barr) on a beautiful scape!

Thanks much for the compliments and kind words! I think Tom nailed it for me and I am glad the gardening is finally starting to show off his beautiful design....

Now that it's been running for several months, how are the Pro3's perforning? any further troubles or dislikes?

I love them. Quiet and reliable. Huge media area. I installed a Hydor inline heater and took me 5 mins to install using the eheim tubing and their nice tubing connections....

Only caveat is that the OTHER eheim has now less powerful flow like the other one did before I replaced (on warranty) the head. I have checked/cleaned it several times and no dice. I will get this one replaced as well. It is visibly less, I would say 20-30% perhaps? I haven't had a chance to work with my sourcing retailer on it lately is all. With such a small fish load I can get away with it for now.

Is why I went for dual canisters in the first place for backup and redundancy, not really because the tank gets that dirty...as if I had an arapaima :)

The first one I replaced has had no issues since then and works great.

I would buy these models again for sure...

But, I don't care for the fact that I have or will have replaced both heads. That component is kind of important....

inspiration has a new name..... "GERRYD" :)... wow man truly amazing have been following ur thread its... im actually lost for words... guess that the best description.... cheers keep them coming ;)

Hi and thanks for following along....I appreciate all the kind words and compliments...I will continue to post as I enjoy sharing the experience...

Glad you like it and are enjoying the view..

On a side note, I really like the way you all mostly have links in your sigs that I can read....some big fish and tanks I have seen so far...

Would love to incorporate some of the aesthetic and plumbing designs but am limited in an apt....

Sig test

Did you decide against that for fear of them jumping out of the open top or?

Jumpers ARE an issue in this tank :) I find them on the floor occasionally...........and I keep fish not really known for jumping...just too much open top I guess for them to resist...

Hi,

Do you mean the main ground cover? That is dwarf clover and borders the entire perimeter. The other carpet plant is stauro repens 049.

Here is a pic from last month where I had much pennywort and java fern in the trees.
