From all the pics I saw in whe web, the vertical bars are the same like in my fish.
If you think that my Geophagus is something else, I'll be happy to hear it.
Anyway... I'm the only one in Israel with this kind of fish, lol so I can call it anything I want...

I've never seen a G. neambi, but I remember from the original paper that it should have 9 vertical bars and the one running through the lateral dot is the only bisect one.... Very uncommon in the hobby still.
Can you post some pics of yours? There are some from WS for sale on AB now but their picture doesn't seem to match the formal description.
This is from the Lucinda et al. paper: "Geophagus neambi differs from the species lacking head markings in having eight or nine vertical, parallel bars along the flank, the bar containing midlateral blotch bifurcating above and below the blotch and in having rounded white spots on the caudal fin"

I remember reading that this species has a lot of yellow on the forehead. The first group of pics looks like the real deal but regardless of what they are they are stunning. I love Geophagus right now and want them all lol.
