I think you should be able to accept critics otherwise your book will not be very successful, and bare in mind that's only 2 or 3 pages in a kindle, look for something at least with 60 pages.

With the saltwater issue I think you should always add salt after a WC, for several reasons.
Okay I will leave the salt part.

Yes I am working. Do you think 40 pages will sell. I might do 60 plus pages but that is a lot for a kid. i will think about it.

I recommend doing some research if you haven't already, then you have a verifiable reference. Also you should talk about the ecosystem the cichlids come from and their role in it, this information is often very interesting to know about your pets. A little intro to what american cichlids as a group are would be a good idea. also maybe you could touch on breeding, cons from what i've heard are the perfect fish for a beginner to breed and raise. Is this a CA book or a CA/SA book. If it's CA only remove oscars and apistos since they're south american.

here are some of the stand out cichlids that you should look into, though not necessarily easiest to raise:

CA:
salvini

Jaguar

Midas/Red devil

Dovii

Cuban

Festae

Umbee

more: (not a huge CA fan so only know a couple, find more of your choice)

SA:
angelfish

discus

dwarf cichlids

rams

pike cichlids

geophagus

severums

green terror (treated as CA but technically from peru @ equador)

Achara

I would buy a book highlighting biotopes of each cichlid, with suggestions for tank mates that are native to the same biotope. I've been looking for such a book and can't find one. Maybe include the type species for each genus of central and south american cichlid. that way you can highlight them in detail and you have a lot of variation
