Does anyone have arowana that seems to be scared of everything including you, the owner?
I'm sure some of you have an arowana that goes crazy often and dash everywhere as if it's trying to kill itself when something moves outside the tank..
How do you overcome this problem?

Somethin went wrong somewhere.. just check with your family or friends if any of them tapped the glass.. that is one of the major reasons.. happened to one of my aros once.. would freak out when my grandmom came near the tank.. and she remarked very casually after a few days that she tapped the glass.. anyway.. best is to keep the lights not too bright.. a zero watt light around at night.. make sure the aro can see people come into the room from a distance.. remove all deco from inside tank.. optimum water parameters.. excellent aeration.. and avoid the aro except for while feeding.. just give it loads of time.. will work out.. cheers..

mine is kinda skittish but i just got him 3 days ago and he is getting a little better at it hes not as scared as the first day i got him good luck just give it time how long have you had him?

Mine had this problem when I had him in the small tank. He's gotten a lot better in the big tank.. Still skittish but it swims near me now.. Try putting it in a bigger tank?

i find that when i put aros in big tanks they become (more often than not) anti-social. in my exp, the aros are the most friendly when they are in not so big tanks

there is one particular location in my house that aros do not like at all (sits at the bottom alot and swims at night only) - never figured out why. HBRTG is consigned there now ... still eats but likes to sit motionless in the corner)

another case, when the SR used to live in darkness - he was quite skittish. now that he is outdoor in the sun, he is very friendly i.e. comes to investigate if a person comes close, whereas before he would go berzerk ... large tank helped to prevent banging but it was still quite heart breaking to watch it dart around the tank.

I had this problem a few weeks ago with my silver (15" now), all I had to do personally was get a timer for the lights in the tank, and he's settled RIGHT down. He managed to damage a few of his scales while he was having his freak-out spells, but they've all come back in and he doesn't thrash against the top of the tank in fear when I try to come into the room anymore :)

What's the use of the light timer?
