Hello all,

I am planning to get my 17" silver a 14" black tank mate. Is there anything I can do to make the introduction painless for the fish (and myself)?
I plan to rearrange the tank decoration completely, adding "virtual" divider like a piece of floating driftwood in the middle of the tank. This way it'll be like a new tank for the silver.
Should I go as far as removing the silver from the tank for couple hours too?

Thanks.

NO in a word. and its probably not going to work either long run... its well documented here. good luck if you do decide to risk it...

Best thing you can do is to have another tank ready to house the black if things go bad.

sorry to be blunt but the search bar is right there in the top corner this gets discussed so many times a month its a freaking joke....

Hi, I tried searching, maybe I'm bad with key words, but I don't see any first hand account of anyone with exactly 2 arowanas. All I see is people give advice not to do it, and other saying it's possible and can be done.

ive tried it a few times and it didn't work... not with SA anyway... had a black that didnt think asians where aros and left them alone he was fine in with 1 of my rtg's for a year... but 2 silvers has never worked for me, no less than 3-4 silvers, blacks min 3 but 3 works more than it does with silver, black and silver is always ive found quite a volatile mix... it can work but completely down to the individual fish... normally requires lots of space an 2+ of each sp. and as ive said for me the only truely successful 2 aro tank ive ever had where i can hand on heart go away for a weekend and no my fish will be alive when i return was a black and rtg asian... blacks and greens are defo a no no! tho and banjars didnt work for me tho i kno someone it has worked for...

Thanks ermgravy,

Fact is I listened and bought 2 blacks instead of 1. Now any advice on introducing them into the silver tank? I plan to remove the silver for about a day and put him back. Hopefully that will be ok.

My tank is a 225 g. 6 x 2.5 x 2

Thanks again.

More arowana just means that now more preparation is needed for if things go wrong. Can you house these three arowana separately if needed?

:) Not really.. I can house them, but not for long because my backup tank is not big at all. I'm crossing my fingers all will be well. If not I'll divide the tank with net wrap around a pvc frame.
