What water conditioner do you use? Prime?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i used tetra or prime

API tap water conditioner. Treats twice as much water for a bit less $$, but only for chlorine, not really suggested for chloramines.

I use prime and I just want to point out to the OP that prime doesnt actually remove ammonia, it just detoxifies it. So it will not affect cycling or the filters in any way, and your plants will still be able to eat up all the nitrates.

I use NO conditioners. What for? Before I give my fishes water conditioners, I'd have to set myself up with some pure Oxygen for the house.

Hey whatever anyone does is fine, Heck, some people feed their dogs Filet Mignon. But I know a lot of reputable Vendors and MFKers that dont use any extra or special chems.

I am not an advocate nor do I boycott chems, but if I ever did decide to use again then I'd buy the Sodium Thiosulfate crystals that you mix up yourself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that only treat Chlorine and not Chloramine?
