Have had this Pleco for quite a while now, ID please!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks everyone! I will definitely start tossing him his own meals, I would have sooner it's just I thought he was dead and all... LMAO.

Since the last time I took pics (with this pleco in the background) he went missing.. didn't find him during a WC or gravel vac LOL now I am even more happy to see the little bugger xD (He seems to go missing for days at a time.. as if vanishing into thin air... or, water)

If he can just grow faster/quicker to avoid becoming a meal I'm sure he'd look boss with my Oscar and Goby full grown, especially in the new upgraded tank I'm getting.

I'm just curious, he always goes after the predators scraps (little tiny pieces of flesh left from feeder fish, small pieces of frozen food the Goby has rejected.. bit's of pellets that the Oscar leaves behind ect..) but I have never seen him actually munch on something that isn't shredded or just in tiny tiny pieces.

Does that mean if I feed him anything it has to be cut up to fit his mouth, or can I just toss a good sized slice of cucumber in there and let him eat it over a period of time?

Thanks again everyone! the help is greatly appreciated!

It may take him a while to finish it off, but he should have no trouble eating through a full cucumber slice. You will need to find a way to weigh it down so he can get to it, though. Most people stick something metal (like a fork) in it to weigh it down, but I usually just tie it to a heavy piece of driftwood using a rubber band.

zucchini is better...no need to do anything, just slice raw and tie it to a spoon or one of those veggie clips. It'll be gone in a night or two. remove when the flesh feels soft.

I have an albino one. 7-8 inches and it looks great.
