BeamsWork LED lights?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I ordered one of the reef ones to try from aquatraders on the 27th. So far it still shows processing and they phone number is a joke...it's always busy. Guess I'll have to wait and see. Maybe because it's sorta the holidays....

If I get it and it looks nice I plan to try 4 over a 96x30x30

Scratch that...there number worked today...they must just be busy...it shipped yesterday they told me.

For the people that have ordered these, how do you like them? I'm mostly referring to the non-reef version, but experience with either would be good. I'm wanting to light my 6' x 2' x 2' . What do you guys feel I will need to do that? I was going to order two 4' and two 2' to get "complete" coverage. Is this too much? Thanks!

I've had that two of these for the past 6 months or so on my 220 and i've not ever had a problem. You can find my video of the tank in the video lounge and i'm going to update the video tomorrow now that i got a better camera if you want to check back on it. They have worked flawlessly and i got two 36" ones because I like the darker look on the edge of my tank, now some might now like that and you can go with 2 48" in that instance. They are well worth the money.

Went ahead and added it here also, this is from about a month ago:

Thanks for the reply, Paulbearer. I haven't heard anything negative about the freshwater version of their LEDs after the small amount of information I have gathered around online. I placed an order tonight and I'll post again when I have first hand knowledge of their product. Thanks :)

Is that the reef version with 1w leds? (I see now its not)

I have the reef version 1w on a 90 tall and I really dont like it...too spotty with out the coverage I would like. Maybe the non reef one is a more even light with more smaller leds.

Yea, these are the non-reef ones and i love them....keep in mind this is a 220 that is 30" high. If you are going with it on a smaller hight tank it will be even brighter and these are only 36" ones on a 72" tank

My lights arrived today. I ordered two 4' and two 2' for my 180g (It makes two rows of lights across the tank. It's not very bright, but does give nice even coverage. It's much more "white" (blue) than I thought they would be. I'm a little bit disappointed, but it makes the colors on my fish pop. Maybe it will just take some getting used to. Oh well. It's saving me a ton on electrical costs :). Here is the best "before and after" picture I could get for you guys. The pictures are taken with a decent point and shoot camera, the best I could get. The light on the tank before was 2 18k 36" fluorescent (very, very dim contrary to what the pic shows).
