Well i removed the diy background off my75 gallon. Currently my filtration is a small canister filter(think jebo 828 or something) and a bio wheel rated for 70 gallons. There still seems to be quite a bit of waste accumilating even with weekly water changes and sand vaccuming. Feed them 3 small meals everyother day making sure they eat all that i feed each time if not i remove it.
My current stocklist is:
1x 4in Firemouth
1x 4in Red Jewel
1x 4in senegal bichir
7x black skirt tetras of various size
1x 3.5in Dempsey
1x 3.5in Convict and
2x 2.5 clown loaches
Im thinking about ditching the tetras soon, as my firemouth is a bully and totally ignores the tetras and chases my dempsey and convict around anyways. But in the future, should the cichlids all work out long term with the bichir and loaches with the filtration i have or? As i know it will be quite a bit more waste as the fish grow larger and require more to eat. So let me know what you all think and anything is appreciated
Thank You

The firemouth might stop chase them but might not... do u have lots of caves in there for the cichilds?

Yeah i have a few built around my driftwood and one bigger rockpile. The dempsey and convict almost lip locked over the big cave but the firemouth ended that and claimed it for himself. Im gonna take everything out this week when i do my water change and rearrange everything. It seems to work on my fish. Oh and the red jewel doesnt do much chasing him and firemouth are on neutral grounds with each other. It just seems as if firemouth doesnt like the other guys. The only bickering occurs among the cichlids, my bichir is quite peaceful

I plan on just having 5-6 caves when i rearrange the tank. I only have 3-4 at the moment so im sure thats the problem with them

Anybody think this will be overstocked soon or once the fish are full grown? Anything is helpful, i rather save a fish as to have it die or something farther down the road, thank you

Drop the clowns. You should drop the JD and get an Eletric blue JD beacuse they are more mellow. this might work if you listen to me. If the convict acts too aggressive he will have to go. It might work.

Overstocking aadvice again oscaroo tsk tsk.

The tank should be fine if you keep up with water changes and maybe get better filtration but all the tetras will have to go they will get terrorized or maybe even killed by the JD. The JD will be the biggest fish by a couple inches if you didn't know. So everything will be fine as long as you get rid of the tetras

Thanks guys. I am doing water changes 1-2 a week so i think that should be good? And yeah, the tetras will be going soon and the convict being moved to a spare 29 gallon. I do know the dempsey will be the largest as well as the bichir will be large too. Though i heard the bichirs are so growers so if i start seeing any agression i will take action. I appreciate the help and will keep and eye out, thank you

Look to upgrade your filtration, a couple of AC110s would do wonders for your tank.
