DIY PVC overflow and Wet/Dry drawer system

Ok, so after reading many many threads on this topic, I have decided to go ahead and create my own wet/dry sump for my 100g.

I spent good part of a whole day driving to various place sourcing my equipment and I believe I am now ready to build :naughty:

I have started assembling an overflow weir out of old acrylic I had laying around, as I couldn't find and clear PVC/Acrylic tubing :( don't have any pics just yet, but will take some tonight.

I will also post some more pictures tonight of the test setup - I discovered my pump (one I already had) isn't powerful enough as I don't really want to lessen the overflow with a valve :drool:

The design of your overflow will siphon all the water out of your tank. This is a deep inlet overflow and it needs the T up higher to set the level of your water. The T is a critical part in this design. Or is it not done yet.. ???

I will be using a weir so it doesn't syphon out my whole tank, but only the water that has overflowed into the weir - once the water level drops below the weir it won't dump any more out.

There ya go that will work..... :) If I would have read slower I would have saw under the picture you typed that you were making a WEIR.
 
this diy sump setup seems pretty simple to do and run...hope it works well for you...
