Is my FX5 enough?

honestly try leaving your lights off for a longer period of time with a smaller 12" light on, My tank used to look just like this after water changes, And then i left the lights off for close to a day and saw a huge difference in the water, It was crystal Clear.

I turn my lights off early after a water change then the next day turn them on around 1 PM, I know it sounds crazy but that might help the cloudy water. Reason i don't turn them on till 1 Pm is im not back from College yet.
 
You can easily add some powerheards or even look into a UV Sterilizer, which will clear your tank up.UV Sterilizers are great and can be inexpensive for bulbs, if you buy the right one.
 
Thanks guys, just fed the fish, going to kill the lights when they get done and see if helps. What exactly do those UV sterilizers do?
 
Honestly i bet you that its the problem sometimes leaving the lights on to long can screw things up, I messed up and did the same thing and left them on for a long time after a water change and the water turned this white hazy color. I had no idea what it was so i did the same thing a 20% water change and left the lights off and the water was crystal clear the next morning.

Me too buddy. Never considered the lights. My wife turns mine on when I'm at work around 10am, and I usually kill them about 11 or 11:30pm, which may be a bit long. Good thinking, I'm going to change the routine a bit. Any ideas about how long they should be on?
 
^ Really depends on the needs of your tank... if its heavily planted with plants that need a lot of light, 12 - 14 hours is not un-heard of... but if you have no plants or ones like anuibias, then you could get away with very short light periods a day... as little as 6 if you want...

At the most from when you wake up in the morning (i wake up at about 8) till about maybe 7 at night thats my routine others vary in between times.

The intake rests just below the halfway point of my tank, about 14 inches off the bottom and the T shaped exhaust is about 8 inches higher, almost at the top of the tank. I'm thinking the exhaust is circling the top of the tank for the most part leaving the mid to bottom section, which is where the crap hangs out, virtually stagnant. I'm going to try and modify one of those bendable exhausts to fit the output and see if I can switch it up and get a better current that will incorporate more of the tank. By the way another piece of equipment that I am missing is one of the hose holders that go over the tank edge. (The one with the buckles) I have one on the exhaust but not one on the input, and for piece of mind I'd like to pick another up. Does anyone know where to get one cheap?

Lol yes that's a largemouth. Weighed 11.8 lbs
N my out puts are at the very top facing the front glass. I hardly ever have stuff floating. I figure it hits the glass runs down and back over the gravel. In my 300 its like a sideways tornado. Very slow tornado but you get the point lol

UV Sterilizer helps with green water, but when I had a Green Killing Machine running, it made my water much clearer, then what it was before.
