The best heaters are the old style Ebo Jager heaters. I think that is when Eheim did not own the company. I have two old style Ebo Jager heaters and they are still working after 6 plus years of use. One of them is more than 10 years old because I bought it used for 5 bucks.

I am curious to see. I know people rag on Chinese production(I might have in prior posts) but its not about where something is made but rather how its made.
Picked up yesterday a new fluval M300watt heater for $40 and it suck ass. Maxed it out. to 86 and it only heats the 60gal up to 79. Imma return it tmrw. So i was on craiglist and i picked up two aqueon neon pro250 brand new unopened for $30

Eheim never returned my email but my buddy got them on the phone and they sent replacements no problem.
Damn. How do you like it so far though? Does it feel pretty sturdy? I checked out the via aqua web page today & the PDF for the heater says it contains substances known to cause cancer & reproductive harm & to wash your hands after handling it! Sounds like the lead warning I see on different things....that made me a little apprehensive

Although i know this brand isn't cheap... but i swear by ferplast products...
I've used a ferplast heater in my 60G for at least 16+ years and never had to replace it and still works fine... have another 2 (300W) Ferplast heaters in my 200G for the last 2+ years and no problems... and have another one in my small 10G for the last 3.5+ years no problems...
So i'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the best heater out there... since i've tried other US / European brands of heaters and they have all died on me within a matter of a year or two...
Now i'm testing out one of the small 50W Fulval heaters in my paludarium which has been running for only about 3 weeks... so can't comment on how well they work yet...
And in Hong Kong, all the shops that sell heaters claim that this brand of heater is the best on the market... as they've said they seen customers return all brands of heaters which have exploded or i guess cracked in the past, but never seen a fesplast one explode or crack...
