a 43 my buddy got, but as soon as we landed it my other rod took off so no glory shot

this bat had already stripped about 40yrds of line by the time i got there.

tryin for a pick up shot, but my arms were already sore from earlier that day and the 15 min fight on 40lb didnt help any

and then got 42. it stripped the gears in my STTLD50H (saltist lever drag 50)

retired that rod to the truck and got a hit on my other rod that had been sitting motionless all night

How do they fight? Cause cow nose rays down in the gulf are kinda like dead weight when you hook up on them.

just like marlin... they fight hard enough to spool the average 20lb setup and burn drag on a 40lb and last 15+ mins with 12lbs of drag and still burn it when its buttoned down to 18.

heres a decent vid.
