this guy can obviously play .....is he magic ,stockton or nash ?only time will tell, jumping into a debate about how great he is might make a person look stupid in the forseeable future.......but aint it fun watchin ....JEREMY ..SCARE-A -ME
The thing you're leaving out is that he only took 6 shots. He made 4 of them. So getting 10 points by taking only 6 shots is pretty damn good.
Plus, he set a CAREER HIGH in assists last night. It's like every other game, he's setting a new career high in points or assists. Yeah he turns the ball over a lot, but that's because he's aggressive driving into the lane. Most of his turnovers happen around the paint after he drove into the lane and his guy couldn't handle the pass. 13 assists and 6 turnovers is a really good rate. And he gets fouled all the time driving into the lane.
I think comparing Jeremy Lin to Kareem Rush and Boobie Gibson is way off. Rush and Gibson were hot during 1 playoff series for their teams. Gibson torched the Pistons in 2007, but any guy can get hot against a certain team because that team might match up badly against that guy. Boobie Gibson also had Lebron on his team. The Pistons couldn't defend Lebron and Gibson got open for a bunch of 3's and open jumpers. Lin is totally different than Boobie Gibson because he's been able to score on a bunch of different teams, even teams with All-Star guards and multiple All-Star defenders. It's a lot more impressive because for most of this winning streak, he was playing with the Knicks backups and they were still winning.
If Jeremy Lin was Black, he would have gotten numerous offers from D1 colleges, but because he is Chinese/Taiwanese-American; he got no offers.
If Jeremy Lin was Black, he might have been 1st, 2nd or even 3rd round pick, but because he is Chinese/Taiwanese-American; he was not even considered.
If Jeremy Lin was Black, he might not being getting the hype he is getting now(because it is expected), but because he is Chinese/Taiwanese-American and just so happens is playing for the top media market in the country and serving every team that he has played against; they can’t believe it because a Chinese mofo is doing it. Chinese/Asian people for that matter should only be made fun of… just like all the movies we watch, all the commercials that are made, all the jokes that are said. They can’t believe a Chinese-American guy scored the most points ever in the 1st 5 games in the history of the NBA and scored 38pts against the Lakers who had Kobe starting and two 7’s driving into the hoop!!!
We all know in the back of or head when he got on ESPN thinking… what the F? Who the hell is this Asian guy and what is he doing on the NBA highlights on ESPN.
Let me just say that because he's Asian isn't that amazingly surprising. I don't care about race, I just expect results.
One thing that I've noticed is that a good game for most pg's is an amazing game for Lin.
Look at what he's doing tonight so far: 8-17, 9 TO's, and a -8 +/- against the HORNETS.
Linsanity seems to Finally be coming to an end
Do you see any other point guards in the league putting up his type of scoring numbers though? Maybe Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook. The reason why when Lin has a +20 point game it's considered amazing is because 2 weeks ago, he was a bench warmer. He was the 4th string point guard. And now he's on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Time. People like his story because it makes them feel like any guy can become a star through hard work and if he's given a chance. It's considered amazing because he went from almost having to play in Europe to being a pretty consistent 20-25 point, 7 assist per night guy.
You're leaving out the fact that he also got 26 points and had 5 assists. His turnovers are his biggest weakness. Nobody ever said he's the perfect player or that he's in the same class as Rose or Chris Paul. But still, he's a baller for real and one of the most exciting players to come around in a long long time. Over time, his turnover rate will decrease because the Knicks will have better outside scorers to take pressure off him (Melo and JR Smith). And he's going to get more experience and be more careful with the ball. A lot of people don't know that Steve Nash also led the league in turnovers during his 2 MVP seasons. In D'Antoni's system, the PG has the ball a lot and is responsible for being the primary guy with the ball, so it's going to lead to lots of turnovers. But it's going to lead to a lot of scoring and exciting drives too if it's done by the right guy.
No way is Linsanity over. Unless you want to consider 26 points as having an off night.
It's like you're not happy with anything that the kid does. You're like those "Asian Dad" internet posters.

It's called efficiency. Sure he scored 26 points, but he only made a low percent of his shots. 5 assists is nothing to brag about either. He is one of the worst free throw shooting point guards in the league. He's a good player being called the next great star, which is what I don't understand. Right now he's only playing with amare, when jr and melo show up, he's only gonna get about 10 shots a game. I see him averaging about 10 points, 6 assists, and 4 TO's a game. Their nice numbers, but nothing amazing. I don't hate the guy, I just don't think he's the next great PG.
