Introduced a New Dat to the tank....(HELP PLEASE)

I wanted to find out if a Datnoid's aggression ever stops over time. I just introduced a new Dat to the tank and the one that was in the tank first is attacking the new one progressively. Has anyone experienced this before...if so how long until the aggression stops.

It might not stop,how big is the tank,do you have just two dats,that small number of them is usually a problem..Try moving around any decor you have in the tank or remove everything for a few days to throw off the established dat.

My datnoid was a bully for the first 6 months. He would descale my huge male ebjd into extremes. Now he's bullied by a 3.5 inch female jd half his size. Then again 6 months ago he was one of the biggest fish. Now he's a shrimp.

OP, try add more dat's to "share" the bullying. Or try add some leporinus that would nip everyone including the bullier; that was what I did. Or add a much bigger fish to keep them in check as long as the biggie is not trying to eat them...my pink giant gouramis is doing this quite well.

I've found that the only way, especially when they are smaller, is to keep them in at least trio's. Like everyone else said it really helps breakup the aggression.

Thanks for all the help guys!! Currently the two dats are in a 125 with my 16 inch silver, a 6 inch pacu, 6 inch cigar barb, and a 8 inch golden clown knife. Everybody in the community gets along just fine with the larger dat.
I will probably purchase another dat just to even out the aggression. I will first take out some decor.

No I didn't get it.I actually thought you were referring to the different aggression levels in the two JD species....doesn't necessarily make it a bad joke though lol.
