^ Bingo! They do work great. The only sound coming from my tank now is the sound of it dropping into the sump. I plan on fixing up the plumbing a bit to quieten that down too. Kinda funny, but I painted my stand black and the background black, also leaving the overflow portion unpainted for visibility. Your tank is coming along nicely.

That is sweet setup... i am going to build a 90G tank this week for a pair of gold saums and this is what i had in mind.... i want to know by keeping the overflow pipe that long do you get reduction in noise?

Great minds think alike! you even used play sand lol. I resurrected your old thread I'll check on it to see how you silence the drain.

Success! current stock: (Torby) 9" GT, (Dory) 5" GT, (Toothless) L128 Blue Phantom pleco and a L134 Leopard Frog pleco. I was worried because I haven't had to move either of my GT's since they were around 1" but it went ok after they stopped freaking out. I added the XP2 to the filtration, when I clean it next I'm going to take out the bio chem stars and just use it for mechanical. (Killer) the Convict went to live in the 55. Well that's all until I get my basement remodeled and set up the 125 Gal. I have sitting down there Hope you like it!

Oh, I'm also trying to turn my overflow into a refugium. I forget what the plants are called, They're what the guy at my LFS recomended for my idea. Anyone know what they are? They have been in there a week and already seem to be growing. Also does a refugium at the beginning of the filter system make any sense?

That should be easy enough to remember. The guy at the LFS showed me so many different plants I didn't know what ended up with.
