Depends on the strain. Some shortbody flowerhorn get pretty large even though they are shortbody. If you want something smaller check out some killin parrots I would have no problem keeping one in a 29g.
If you can ask the breeder. The breeder should be able to give you a good estimation of potential size. Lots of really nice sb red dragons on aquabid right now.
