Goldfish are cool. I am in agreement with your wife. Not all fish have to be killers and aggressive to be liked. Another thing if you add live plants be careful cause goldfish like to eat some of them. Anacharis is one of their favorites.
So? I like goldfish too and would love to get a 120gal tank to house either singletails or fancy goldfish. IMO some species of birchir are just downright boring.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH That guy you quoted just got burned. IMO Those fat fancy goldfish are hilarious to watch. I also love bichirs. Cichlids are awesome fish. I have schools of tetras that are cute. Ghost shrimp are amazing to watch. Arowanas are just plain epic. I could go on forever. I love all fish. Don't even get me started on freshwater stingrays though. Or saltwater eels like the moray.

This is your excuse to get a pond. Since she loves the goldfish say your building the pond for her.
Goldie might be what's keeping your wife on board about YOUR hobby. LOL. Let her keep watching it.
Ok I got a plan. Tell your wife that tiger barbs are extremely friendly and nice coldwater fish like goldfish. Let her have you buy as many as you want (buy more than 10) and come home with about 15-20 tiger barbs and some exodons. Tell your wife the exodons are also called bucktooth tetras so they are very compatible with all fish. Then just wait and he will be gone.
