Help me find a Pleco! (Or another large "sucker" fish)

Help me find a Pleco! (Or another large "sucker" fish)

I'm not a big fan opf pleco's, but I dont know of any other "sucker fish" that will get large enough to go with the likes of my endli and clown knife.

I REALLY like the looks of the gold nugget pleco, but understand they are very slow growers and only reach 8 inches or so. I'd have to have a fish that can quickly reach a size that my 12"endli will not eat.

My fish are getting large enough now that my Farlowella acus is in risk of being eaten.
I will have to move him and my super slow growing sturgeon to a 65 "grow out" tank. Even though the farlowella will likely not get any bigger.

So, help me find a fish!

it must be wierd, (to me, the farlowwella is) or a very unusual and striking pleco. It also mast attain a large size.
 
I am definitely open to other types of fish!

The ripsaw, if I am not mistaken, is your basic catfish though right?

Bottom feeder, scavenges fallen, dropped food. The "vacuum cleaners" of the fish world.
I'm looking for unusual catfish as well, so your suggestion is welcome, But I'm also wanting the type of "sucker fish" that pleco's are known for, sticking to the tank sides etc.

Any reason why? Just fond of them?
One of the larger Panque species perhaps? One of the species with the big moustache bristles... that's sure weird.
 
don't keep plecos with polypterus they have a tendency to eat the slime coat off them

To me this is like saying, "Don't buy a pitbull, they bite people!" Not saying it doesn't happen, there is just more to it than that
 
obviously there is more to it but trying to keep it simple, why put the fish at risk when you can just get a sponge and not be lazy? worst case takes you a minute every few days to wipe it down. poly may be fine with the pleco but history shows larger polys when they start to get slow often times will get their slime coats sucked on by plecos, not every time, but often enough to justify some concern

Nope. Some of the bigger Panaque species have big sharp bristles on the sides of their jaws. Smaller species like Clows and Flashes have them too, but way less noticeable. Someone told me that with larger WC specimens, importers cut the bristles off so they dont pop the bags, but I'm not sure this is true.
