IMO the only way you can know is have either an accurate collection point or trusted breeder if the ray is CB.
The difference between a low end BD and a high end Leo is not much since a BD is just a locality of leo

I try to stay away from threads like these. But in this case I'll tell you what I think......
IF you are after "real" or "true" then buy the tickets, permits, and a guide and with enough research you can go get yourself a BD, yourself. This is the ONLY way you can be sure, otherwise you need to trust someone to get one for you, in this case all you get is a "it was sold to me as....."
BDs and Marbles have a lot in common. More desireable spinoffs of a less desirable species. People try to grade them and rate them but in all reality the fish is either worth the asking price to you or it's not. "How" nice they are is all matter of opinion.
I myself collect Marbles. Have quite a few I consider nice. But to me the difference between a $1500 Marble and a $250 Marble is nothing more then just my opinion. Just like my opinion that Marbles are some of the nicest looking rays in existance period. Many people think I'm silly for spending what I do on Marbles. I could care less. They are my rays, not thiers.
Some would say what you have are BD. Some would say they're just nice Leos cause they don't look like top shelf BDs. But then again they could have very well been pulled out of the same part of the Sao Felix as other BDs but do you think that matters to the armchair experts here? Nope. If your BDs don't look like the $4K-$6K BDs that show up on this board then you are either a liar or a victim of someone that screwed you over. Sad part is that couldn't be further from the truth. The truth is you'll likley have people here that have never even laid eyes on BDs in the flesh telling you what your rays are.
The most important thing to remember with rays is screw everyone else, it's YOUR fish and all that matters is if YOU like it, and it is worth what you paid for it to you.
In order to be a true hybrid you would need to mix species. Leos and BDs are the same species, just locational variants.

If you ask me they are Leo x bd at the most
One looks just like a normal Leo
For me to pay good money on a bd it would have to have ALL the bd traits belly spotting light colour eyes and a good amount of spotting and not the messy spotting you see on lots of hybrids
When I say big money I mean over us$1200 per ray
And to tell the truth if anyone hands over more than 2k and not knowing what they are buying deserves to be ripped off
You can't trust people know matter how well you think you know them
Look at the pictures and make your own mind up based on the ample research you should have done before buying
And go pick the rays up yourself a 1000 mile round trip is nothing for the right fish and it's live stock soooooo many things can and do go wrong at least when them rays are in your polybox in the back of your car it's only yourself you can blame if it goes wrong

The below pic is Leo x bd and the grade of them is getting very good now
Even if the ones posted are Leo x bd they are not the best
But I wouldn't class Leo x bd as a hybrid as you wouldn't class one type of motoro that breeds with another as a hybrid

Did you buy them for the name or because you liked them. If you like them then That Is All That Matters.....If Leo and BD are the same species then why does every one persist on calling them BDxLeo.....For one reason and one reason only, because BD attached to the name increases value, interest and of course image. I'll just stick to calling them all Blackies or Leos.

I bought the rays because I have had a big interest in keeping these rays myself after reading about them, but I want to know the real "name" because my intention is to breed them when they grow up, and that is why i want to know the real name before i sell them.
Many of the Danish people on the forums think that there's a significant difference between Leo's and BD's, and a hybrid is worth nothing, so I just wanted to know your opinion because keeping rays in Denmark isn't as common as in other countries so I think you know a lot more. But it is also nice to get some more info about these beautiful creatures.
