Ever had your appendix taken out?

Ouch isn't the word for it........... Seth "viscious" and "bbortko" terrible to go through.. yes i had mine out too.. just hanging curtains one day right after i spent half a day on mfk.. then the slow ache started.. asked hubby to take me to emergency room.. i kind of knew it... some thing just told me it was appendecitis.. i made a very fast recovery.. and glad to hear things went smooth for you too Packer..

Surgeons removed mine only bcuz it was attached to a Lg aggressive tumor.
The pain after their 'exploratory' felt like people had stomped all over my guts. it beats the alternative, though! Pain means you're still alive. LOL.
Now I have one less thing that can go wrong ;-)

Glad to hear you're ok, hopefully your job transition will be smooth.

We will find out tommorow how they wanna work with me on the job. I only have 6 more days there, just give me sick pay and let me go in peace! lol

Yep, I have mine out along with my spleen, gallbladder, part of my stomach and large intestine (I was in a very bad car accident) but apparently you can live without all that crap!

I think the worst part is they gotta tell you the complications of course. You could get an infection, die from anastesia all of those things scare you more than the actual surgery!

Good call going early. Mine ruptured around 2am on a Monday, no pain just vomiting and pooping so i thought i had the flu. Finally by Tuesday around 7pm the with took me to the ER. Since i waited so long gang green set in and i was in for 5 days. Went from being a cut 210 to 150 over a month from my body burning so many calories fighting infection and with my insides so tender it took a good 6 weeks to able to eat more than a happy meal.

I've heard stories like that. That's why I just called off and went to the ER. I was hoping I had to use the bathroom, lol or something completely stupid the whole time though.

good to hear the surgery was a success. also good call on going in for the checkup before it ruptured. don't know how it feels but i just hear it ain't fun

and yea, never had surgery but i always thought it was kinda scary too

I've had surgery before. Well IDK if you can call it surgery since they didn't even cut me open. I broke my arm before and it started to heal the wrong way. They put me under and literally broke it again so it would mend in the correct way.

We were smart to go early, I hear it's incredible pain if you wait for it to rupture.

I was hoping I was having gas pains the whole time. Didn't want it to be my appendix, but it happens I guess.

They gave me norco for pain meds. It works pretty good. Suppose to be like vicodin. The larger incision around the belly buttom still hurts though and the gasses they used to bloat your stomach hurts too. I'm so paranoid I'm going to get a hernia there or a hematoma or something crazy. I'm literally doing nothing to make that happen, but just paranoid soo much.

Yup, woke up early one morning with fever and shaking so bad that my waterbed was making waves! Appendix had ruptured and somehow cupped itself so they couldn't really tell. Fortunately, had a good Dr. who decided to remove appendix "just in case".

They gave me Norco for my pain. It's like Vicodin I guess. Well it says it can upset your stomach as a side effect. That is an understatement of the year. I took some yesterday and was eating pretty much all day so nothing happened besides less pain for my incisions. Today I woke up and took some around 11am and didn't eat yet. Within an hour I had really intense stomach pain really high up in my stomach. I thought it was my heart, I had to lay down and do nothing until it passed and quickly scoughed down some crackers to get some food in me. The side effect was way worse than the actual pain! lol At least I know now.

I also got 40 hours of sick pay at work. So I only have 2 days left which they are just going to let me go early from my current job. So basically I have over 2 weeks off!
