Omega one vs. hikari

You can't really get an accurate comparison with this little bit of information. One thing that has to be understood is that ingredients are listed by weight. Hikari is using a fish meal as the main ingredient. A meal is something that has had the water removed from it, which is required to make the pellet. Omega 1 is not using a meal ingredient and is instead opting for seafood which still contains the moisture. When the water is removed the weight can be lowered by as much as 70% which could place the seafood ingredients significantly further down the list.

well thats deffenatly an idea but first fish meal is made of the scraps of fish left over from the edible parts being used. meal is bones, fins, scales, organs, and fish. so that certainly doesnt sound like something that should be the main ingredient, but there next 2 ingredients are undigestible corn and flour. where as omega ones first and main 3 are whole salmon, halibut, whole shrimp so it makes sense that that combind weight surpasses the meal product of hakiri. but they dont tell the weight of each product so its pointless to assume.

Fish meal can also be made using whole fish, as well as other parts of the fish. So this is not necessarily just tha waste parts left over from processing. Again given this ingredient list there is not way to accurately compare the two foods.

I would also suggest you look up what Bderick67 was hinting at and what Omega 1's seafood consists of.

Edit: Here's a link that's been posted here before that explains what really constitutes the whole ingredients Omega uses.

well from this list its very clear that omega one is a clear winner bc the only grain they have in there food is wheat flour and wheat gluten. where as hikari has flaked corn, wheat flour, gluten meal, fermentation extract, and dried a niger.

so a more exensive list of both
omega one,
whole salmon, halibut, whole shrimp, weat flour, wheat luten, fresh kelp, krill, and the rest vitamins
hikari
fishmeal, flaked corn, wheat flour, gluten meal, brewers dried yeast, dried A. niger, fermentation extract, and the rest are vitamins

i mean come on

Still without knowing weights you are just speculating. What should matter more is the total amount of grains, not how many different types of grains there are. And this is not information that you can get from the labels.

If it makes you feel good feed omega one. Just hope you don't go with their frozen foods over Hikari.
