How to secure drift wood.

nope, I have malaysian drift wood. This is way lighter. I bought it at a reptile swap for 20 bucks a piece about 3 times the size of the 2 30 dollar malaysian drift wood pieces I have.

I tied mine to granite slabs or prop it down by squeezing it to the glass panel at the top of my tank

those pieces are pretty wide on the bottom, you can easily just silicone them to the slate rock. this way you dont have to deal with drilling through the rock, I have used both methods, and the silicone is the sure way to go with pieces that have a wide base.

oK, I'd like very much to go get some smooth slate then for this. Were is a good place to do that? Would home depot have that or do I need to go to a specialized supply center?

One piece is already screwed and installed but I wouldn't mind trying the opposite method as these are something of trial tanks. I have silicone in the basement I can use.

Ok, this past weekend I finally got both pieces installed. My planted tank went from a 20 gallon long to a 40 gallon breeder, the tall piece is in a festae rearing tank(hex) next to the planted tank.
