How long?

Almost feels like you and sam are the same person IMO, both from PA, both responding from Ipod touch. And what do ya know, both with similar sentence structur... and look a new account from March hmmm maybe im just crazy today.

MFK, this is my first post so PLEASE go easy on me. (I see that you can be rubbed the wrong way and kinda freak out so I'll try not to...rub you.) that kid Sam I can see is really angering you, so I'll ask the question that I think he should have asked. How LONG can a hystrix ray live in a 125 gallon? I've heard they grow fairly slow, and thought I would wait and watch Sam's threads because at the rate he was going, he was getting the answers to all my questions but sadly the kid took a beating, and wasn't going to ask the rest of my questions.

lol good catch.

what we try to say is that it's not only the width of the tank for space, it is also the water volume.
the more water you have, the more their bioload will be diluted and non toxic for them. you can have all the filtration in the world, but a 125gal will become toxic way sooner than a 220, or 300, or larger.

i grew out my rays in a 90gal, and when they were getting to the point where another 6 inches or so, they would be able to touch nose/front tail/back, i moved them to the 300gal. they require movement and space to be able to grow healthy.

Guess he thinks he can outsmart all you experienced ray keepers into getting the answers he wants to hear on a different name, since "Sam" was being so annoying... trolololol

I'm not that little kid. I'm not trying to outsmart all of you ray keepers. I just happen to be in a similar situation to Sam (where I live, and the ray I might get) and don't want my threads to spiral out of control like his did. So, I ask you again, PLEASE go easy on me.

These guys and gals here on MFK are no dummies...... if you think you will "outsmart" us you are sadly mistaken. But nice to see you trying to take a different approach to this and not being annoying. Yet......

If by "going easy" you mean being respectful...fair enough. But it still doesn't change the answers or facts. It's like that dude who was asking about dwarfing rays a few days ago...he didn't hear what he wanted to hear and felt "bullied". It wasn't bullying...it was just people being truthful and to the point. As far as my fish are concerned...I rather just hear the truthful, direct answer than worry about how it's delivered. Can you dwarf rays? No. That's it. How long can a ray live in a 125g? Not long. The truth is the same no matter how old you are or how it's delivered.
