I've got a group of five in my 180gal right now and 4 of them got to 6+ inches in 12 months!
The 5th one is around 8 inches but is a fair bit older. I'll try upload a picture or two of them shortly ...

Seven years and only 8 inches? Those are some stunted tinfoil barbs. They should all be well over a foot.
nice tinfoils.I just picked up 5 of them for my 125.I did do some research and once again there is a bit of confusion out there.some say they get up to 8 inches the red tail types,ive read this one alot, while alot of the others say the "other" ones get to 14.?? so which is it? theres more then one type..maybe he has the 8 in ones
Similar to Bala Sharks, TFB can get up to 12"-14". I've seen them pushing these sizes before. On a side note i love TFB. I used to house two in my 125g and they were some of my favorite fish I've kept.
I just picked one up at my LFS and he is very timid. I hope mine will be that big or bigger. He is about 1.5"

both types will get 12-14". I have grown redtails up to 12" (I have old pics if you would like) and I have three in my 150g now that are getting pretty big. (about 8-9 inches now):
that misinformation about the 'redtails' only getting 8" is everywhere thanks to the web..

my local petco had 5 TFBs in last week for adoption all around 6-7 inches..5 dollars a piece adoption fees. wish i had a bigger tank for those guys.
