My teacup only will eat blood worms. hes at 5inches and I wanna feed him krill and raw shrimp. Ill go aday or so with out feeding him and I cant feed my other fish ( scombs) cuz there slow eaters and eat live fish so hill eat the feeder fish. can anyone help? Thank you!

Retric stingrays (which 99% of all so called tea-cup rays are) can be very picky about their food. They have small mouths compared to other rays, so you have to chop up stuff really small for them to eat it. You should not have your ray in with other fish in a big tank until it is eating a good varied diet. The other fish will just steal its food and it is harder to wean onto other foods besides blood worms that way.

I have a baby retric that is about the same size as yours. He is in a 20 gallon long all by himself until I can get him to eat something besides live cherry shrimp, baby bladder snails and baby marokreb crayfish; even the smallest chopped live worm is too big for him right now. In another month or so I will try to wean him onto pellets.

Good luck!

ok what kind of pellets, like meatter kinds like coniverus fish pellets? I have the ray in with 2 payaras and tigerfish, they only eat live feederfish witch is what im trying not to feed him so I know there not stealing his food. Ive also tryed to chop the shrimp up to the pint it was mush but he wouldnt go anywere near it. but thanks agen!

Unfortunately retics are much pickier than other rays such as motoros. Have you tried cut up earthworms?

Ive tryed live ones but never tryed cutting them up. should a wait aday or 2 with out feeding him befor trying something new?

my retics only took live blackworms for the first few weeks once they fattened up my female who ive have shorter started takign chopped up nightcrawler and the male quickly followed suit... they now eat both types of worms and have started showing interest in the pellets i feed my Ck that lives with them. imo feed it and make sure it is fat and sassy and it will by nature start being interested in newer foods. an animal in sickly health ime is even less likely to take new foods then one that is healthy. fatten it up on what it will eat.. then try new foods... starveing inparticular a young delicate fish is more likely to kill it then convert it.

Ok man thanks!

O and something else I wanted to ask, with alot of other rays they get those ripsaw like spikes going down there back and tail. wil the retic or teacups get that as well?

Yes, both of mine spines at about 6 inches +. By the way, my rays didn't like raw shrimp but did like cooked shrimp. I'm planning on trying raw again soon.
