think my red tail cat fish my be dieing?????

hi,ive just set up a new filter an poped a couple of new rocks in my aquarium,and straight away in seconds they seem to be laying on there sides at the bottom of the tank and hardly moveing about,but my pacu and oscars are loveing it,and if anything there activity seems to b more positive than ever,or could this just be because they were spoked when all this was goin on???

Rocks could have changed ph, or the filter could have old carbon thats contaminated and/or leaching something toxic into water, smaller fish almost always die 1st, so my advice is to pin point the problem asap!!

Id take the filter ofd immediatly and soak in boiling water, did u even wash the rocks or filter before u put in the tank?

Maybe its ammonia if its not a cycled filter if so just put media from ure other filter in it and dont put ure filter sponge in boiling water that will be bad for the good bacteria
 
might even pop them into spare tank and wait a couple of days for the new tank stuff to settle,do you think that could help?

More stress isnt a good thing, i gave you ligit advice, if you tested your water you would likely know exactly what the deal is!!!

Change some freaking water!!!!! If their dying then obviously somethings killing them! Do something already! Things dont magically get better, the fish is in your hands!

Can you notice any small spots on the fish? Look at fins and eyes very carefully!
