hi guys,
i wasted a little time and made this scetch of the fishroom with paint from microsoft, it will give you a little idea how the room is setup and what pump lines go where ans so on, it is pretty close to scale, but not exact

Very nice... i like how your putting couches in the center. personally ide go with some kinda loungeing type set up so you can lay down and read a book.. or just relax and veg out watching the fish... or if you had the electrical/plumbing.. ide put in a wet bar.. cold beverage and a chair to relax on. atm we have our old couches in the basement infront of the tanks and ive always got the lil one down there on my knee stareing at the tanks.

:clap seriously, this is the coolest fish room EVER. you're living my dream.

thanks for sharing your collection, i'm thoroughly enjoying this thread! that paint diagram was an awesome visual too, thanks for taking the time to do it. if you can get one of these photography nerds over there to snap some pro-quality pictures, that would be amazing  ! ...i say "nerds" with affection.

i'm curious, how often do you clean and replace the cartridges in your system 3 filter? also, do you ever backwash the ultima, if so, how often?

well to answer the first question, i will try to find someone to do better photos :)
and now the second question, the system 3 filter is the same one on my swimming pool and i just bought this one for the fishroom, i have not backwashed it yet, (about 2 weeks) but the one on my swimming pool i backwash everytime the pressure builds up to 50lbs, which is about every 2 months or so, and ive been in my house now for 1 year and the pool is always up and running with a large amount of poeple swimming in it all the time, and i have not had to change the filter cartridges, i was so impressed with it, that i had to buy one for the mechanical filtration for the fishroom. and as far as the biological filtration the ultima 30,000, in the year that ive had it running, ive backwashed it once, it is as if it is not even there, but there are never any nitrates in the 9100 gallons of tanks that i run through it, i believe when it comes to filters, go bigger it is alot less maintenance,

thats a few good ideas, i do have a wetbar in my basement with the pooltable and the dartboards and my bandroom, so i dont want to add another bar to cleanup after, but i was thinking on having multiple couches back to back so you can sit on either side but i think that will take up too much room, so 2 couches 1 at the 1000 gal and 1 in front of the 4000 gal, the rest i guess you can just walk around and see :)

hello, here are some more pics and info, someone pmed me about the 15' intex pool and in the diagram i have it as a 12' pool, well remember, in my poolroom i had 2 15' pools that cracked when we tried to move them, 1 was for the smaller of the large cats, and 1 was for water changes, i have a 15' pool at my last house with my son taking care of the largest catfish that i have not got over here yet, i took a few of the smaller fish 30-36" and brought them here, but untill i build the cement pond for the fishroom, i had to buy what fit in this area, the 2 800 gallon tubs ar 6' from side to side and the pool is 12', thats a total of 24' there is like 8 inches left, but this way, untill i can build the cement pond, i can have most of my fish in 1 place, the tubs i am useing for the stingrays, ill post pics of them, these are in 2 different 800 gallon tubs, i keep the babies in the D.A.S. 280 gallon tanks, ill post them next!cid_6651.jpg$(KGrHqF,!i0E2Kl-Qc!)BNsDcJt4Y!~~_12.jpg$(KGrHqR,!iIE2KVm8omUBNsDcRSPfw~~_12.jpg$(KGrHqV,!mEE2EmrTiGhBNsDc,U24g~~_12.jpg!cid_366.jpg!cid_865.jpg

now ive drawn up another paint program picture to show everyone that is interested what we are treying to do with this room to house the largest cats the size is 24'x11'x36" a total of 5925 gallons, but the overall height is 44" with the limestone cap on the top of the pond, it will be cinder block construction with a river stone face on the front side with a limestone cap all the way around the top and a 8' x 36" viewing window centered on the front so you can view them from the side as well as the front, once this pond is done i will have a total of 14,800 gallons.
click on the picture to enlargen it to where you can actually read the letters :)
