Lifting The Ban On Snakeheads In The U.S.A.

Well....you did not list where your location is but in my town there is a thriving population of snakeheads and there are people who capture them on the rod and reel. There are also certain officials who hide in the brush. They come out when they see someone land a snakehead and if the fish is not killed on site,or, appears to be set up for live transport from the catch location then they have, and will enforce existing laws with fines, forfeiture and whatever else they have at their disposal,it's been done already....and nope, there are no signs in this area.

Well let's see I was just across the bridge this past weekend a bit south of Camden searching for the snake head infestation, I would have dispatched a good size one or three if I came across them but not so with smaller ones. I had a few kids with me and dispatching fish that were going to eat I have no problem with, but to teach children to kill stuff just for the sake of killing it. Especially if there NO posted order to do so. Then the fish is going back in the water, period!

And if some city, county or other law enforcement personnel jumped out of the bushes and wants to arrest me, oh yeah!, instant job security, aka police/law enforcement lottery with a better than 50 percent chance of placing in the tax free green. Or they just wanna fine me that's a few bucks that's fine. I get to contest that in front of an elected official and if need be the children and the media.

now if only some ppl would let some stingrays go into the lake =) that would be great!
LOL,all you would need to have happen would be for some group of people who like to eat them move into your area...Are they not legal there?
the ban in the us will never be lifted.
Nope.I don't think so.

All they have to do overfish these snakeheads and they will eventually diss appear. Just look at the ST and all the other fish that are overfished in many areas. McDonald's should use the snakeheads in their filet o fish. Lol

you will kill all the native fish before over fish the SH!

I don't see the ban being lifted anytime before the Asian Arowana will be legally allowed in this country and I doubt that that will happen in my lifetime.
I don't think they will lift the ban on SH before the end of the world!
and for the FH and parrot, you don't like them but lots of people like them. Beside they can't survive with North American winter!

Oh I know a lot of people like those fish....They would not have their own sub forum if they did not have a sizeable following and I made that comment as a joke, didn't you read the accompanying quote in my post?...True,I don't like them but that is for another thread.

well they will never unban the snakehead because it will bring terror to other ecosystems. They can like survive in any condition. Plus if they were to eradicate snakehead they will be always be banned. cause if they get loose again it will be horrific to the ecosystems

You just described the perceived impact of the entire pet trade.

Ironically our government introduces non native fishes into water ways all the time. My parents lake is filled with rainbow trout, not a native fish at all. The native brown trout and cisco are all wiped out by them and the LMB stocking each year. Soon the perch and crapie will follow.
