How do the people on tanked do it.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have always added fish to my tanks the very day that they are setup. Never lost a fish b/c of it either. You need fish in the tank to get the cycle going anyway( I know you can use ammonia but really, why would you?) Fill tank, add fish and just monitor the levels and don't over feed, no big deal.

Yes you can do this with a few fish but if you overstock like on the show, then death for the fish is inevitable

Its not filmed live guys... meaning they build it and then edit it for TV so it looks like that they just added fish to it but in reality it was a few months.. there is a lot of testing and nit picking that isn't on the film

Yeah when they said cycled water I knew it was BS. The bacteria is in the substrate and filters not the water
I thought of all the threads I've seen on here of fish dying and people not knowing why, because they added "cycled" water

It's edited a lot, and the "time frame" is more TV time frames and when they say "Okay are client wants this in 4 days!" they knew about the project for several weeks even months.. They edit it and make it seem like they just now talked to the people but actually it's basically filmed Old-New (They film the meeting with the people and set it up..) then they give them a time frame etc THEN when they film the putting together main part that we see is then they add the old clip of them meeting in to make it appear they just met only days ago. Even though it appears to be put together in their house and filled/add fish, there is tons of stuff just not added to the show because the main thing it's not TV attractive, remember not everyone even keeps fish but still like the show. If you also notice they build these nice big aquariums but never explain proper feeding, schedule, how to clean it properly ETC it's edited out.

ALSO: What they are referring to by "Cycled Water" is basically a badly dumbed down version of them saying they cycled the tank prior to putting the fish in. (Remember... not everyone keeps fish/some don't know anything but just enjoy the show)

Im not so sure they properly cycle tanks after reading 00rollins account of what happened with the orthodontist tank

Exactly right

Im not so sure everything weve heard bad about the show is true, there isnt solid proof or even a pic still!

They could use seeded sumps or something, they did add ocean water too, idk much about salt. Atleast the pinballmachine was fw but that was alot of fish to add to 125gallons but could work with seeded bio, more fw would be nice, im still hoping their not just in it for cash but i always have too much faith in humanity

Yeah they overstock the tanks like crazy. Pick the ugliest decor and don't cycle the tanks. I've seen a few episodes and 2 of them I've seen one was a keg tank with the sketchiest sports decor in it I've ever seen plus it was susposto be a "surprise" so was laa set up in a couple hours. And the other one was one where a guy proposed to his gf and had to set up the tank in a few hours so it's bull pluss the guys seem mentally retarted. And give the most generic info about there fish they might as well just not say anything. Pluss they tryed to hype up acrylic tanks when they scratch soo easy and idk how they clean these things

The people who can afford to pay them to build a tank can surely afford to pay someone to maintain it. With all the animal rights activists out there these days, animal planet wouldn't get away with making the show if they killed as many fish as some people claim.
