so FD..you think a 375g with only a 12" ray will be enough to support my filtration?
The More water Volume to dilute the waste is always better how much Maintenance do you want to be doing?????That is the question that you need to ask yourself ...More water volume the stable very simple !!!!!!!

what i am doing is trying to show people that a 4" ray in a 125 is fine.

if i take my 4" ray and times it by 3 its 12.
if i do the same with my 125 its 375.
which is fine for a 12" ray

if i take my 4" ray and times it by 2..thats 8,
if take my 125g and times it by 2 thats 250..which is fine for a 8" ray.

so...why in the hell is a 125g tank with a 55g sump to small for a 4" ray.

its not..its fine..damn near perfect for what i plan on doing.

so i am basically taking what everyone is saying and proving that what i am doing is ok.

so, again, thank everyone for their opinions.

4" in a 125?? ha ha Ive got 4 pups in a 55g at the moment :) Your fine. Just keep up on your water quality and no worries.

Never said is was not OK Is OK good enough for You??? Certainly Not for me every time i think something is OK in the end it is not..Your 4 inch ray will be 10 inches in seven months maybe more who knows with a sump you will be But i bet he or she would dig a little more room for sure .......

haha...its not stirring the pot.
its just that i enjoy showing people that they are wrong when they accuse me of not knowing what i am doing.

its a shame that one has to go to this extreme but one has to do what one has to do to shut people up.

i hope everyone understands.
all of the input was, indeed, very helpful.

Just my opinion but water quality is key with any ray and not just water quality but water quantity because we all know that the more water volume you have the slower changes in quality happen. Rays do not need the amount of space that people think they do but they do need stable clean water. Filtration and water volume is key more so than space. Now if you are getting into breeding or have a ray that is aggressive then that is a different story. There are guys on here that have rays that people would die for and are well respected that only have 24" wide tanks and have breed multiple times. If your ray turns front to back and his nose and tail touch front to back then it is time to upgrade. Hope this helps.
+1

Man u getin chewed out cuz u had a ray I'n a 20gl not 125. Let's keep ***** clear
