I have 3 5inch rays in a 60 gallon at this time, change over 50% water once or twice a week, feed once a day with 20 nightcrawlers, fluval 404 and internal filter. No issue with water quality and the rays have plenty space at this time. Offcourse in the future they will go in a 180 gallon, and when they are to big for that, they will go in my 1200 gallon.

I dont see the problem as long as there is space enough, filter is good enough, and you monitor the rays\water quality. You quickly learn how your rays behave, and you wil for certan see when something is up.

4" in a 125?? ha ha Ive got 4 pups in a 55g at the moment :) Your fine. Just keep up on your water quality and no worries.

ha ha i must be a terrible ray keeper too... i had 9 pups in a 40 gallon after my female gave birth...lol
I have a little 100 gallon tank that my male motoro is in while he is separated from some females in another tank. (he is 5 years old + and around 11" diameter.)
Nose touches on end and tail touches the other end. Is it a perfect scenario??no! Is it hurting him... NO (IMO)
Is it for life NO.

Established filter, lots of water changes (drips), and to know what to look for and you are fine.... But what do i know.

What you are all forgetting is yes a 4 inch ray is fine in a 125 but it's just a temp place to house the ray in and you should be starting to set up the bigger tank as soon as you buy the ray and put it in the 125

Wow, this post alone should be a sticky. We'd avoid so many crappy debates.

we are not forgetting because we are not dumb. I think the point has been made plenty of times.. I have also said more than 1 that this is just a temporary thing for my rays... from 6 months to a year I will be getting a house with my girlfriend and I will be building a 10 foot long by 7 foot deep by 5 foot high tank.....
