Where can I become aquaticbiologist

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you're interested in fish or herps, a lot of Aquariums have volunteer positions where you'll clean tanks, feed fish, help visitors etc. As far as getting a job in biology, it's a HUGE field and things become very specialized. Most biology jobs now require a minimum of a bachelors degree, I know a lot of Fisheries jobs are giving preference to those with Master's or PhD's. There are often seasonal positions which are good to get your foot in the door, but they're short term (2-6 months) fairly low paying and still will give preference to folks with a degree. The best thing to do is just start putting applications in and go from there. See what the requirements are for the jobs you really want and take steps to get those requirements.

Good Luck!

Like the person above me said you're going to need at least a bachelor degree in biology or related field. Some schools have fisheries Fegrees but it is a very competitive field that gets very little funding. The DNR of individual states hire fisheries biologist but if you want to do research you're going to need a Phd. Since the DNR is a government agency it can be very hard to get a job.

My pants....

THIS!

But seriously, what people said above is pretty much what you gotta do. Also I really really agree with one of the people above, don't get a straight Biology degree if you're going to school. It's to large of a field and now days you need to have a specialty in a specific field. If you just want to learn and know a bunch of facts about fish, the interwebs is a good place to start. Especially if you don't care for the sciency stuff like for example You want to know the general range of the foods that specific fish will eat? Or do you want to know how that food is converted into energy?
