Leave it be, do not consider removing the ray from the tank, leave it in its stable environment, if the water is good which it should be, it will heal.......post pics in about 5 days from now to prove my theory right, you will see a significant difference within 2 days, this type of wound in this particular area does heal incredibly fast.
 
Yes dont mess around with it,ive had worse many times,will heal very fast,nothing to worry about,always looks worse than it is.Just keep water good and the rest will take care of itself.
 
My female had a tear from breeding 3 days ago and it looked horrible, now it is healing really well and looks half healed. I would not mess with the water by adding meds and just keep up the water quality. I like the safety of a uv for the very reason. If you see infection add salt.
