How can I control algae naturally in a predator aquarium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I currently do a 10-20% WC every other week so I am definitely going to increase that. Probably 20%/week to see if that helps.

I was thinking of getting some Gold Algae Eaters as I think they might get big enough to be okay.

Rivermud: Any recommendations on specific plant species that love nitrates?

Thanks for all the help!
All plants use nitrates. Some of the more common ones people use that will grow with just roots in the water are pothos, philodendron, etc.. fairly common house plants..

Algae is long gone thanks to two 10" pothos with submerged roots. I also streamlined water changes with a carbon filter to take care of chlorine. Thanks for all the advice folks.

Also, the fish have grown quite a bit since I first posted here. Check out my albums.
glad to see it worked for you
