Fair price for a 5" Delhezi?

Hello all, I am new here, and also new to having bichirs. The other day at the LFS I was looking to buy my first, I didn't want a Senegal because they are so common, and I didn't want an Ornate because my biggest tank right now is only 4 feet. They had a 5" Delhezi which I was interested in, and were charging $43 for it. Is this a fair price? I am in the Midwest if that matters.
Anyway I ended up getting about a 9" Senegal instead, these were the most active in the tank, and the 5-6 Senegals were doing a lot of swimming in there and it looked cool.
But just curious, what is a good price on the 5" Delhezi?
 
Around here, in Utah, that would be a fair price for 5". Most of the dels I see at the lfs are 2-3 inches for $35-$40.

no around here in MI a 3" del is 40.00 and a 5" one is 30.00
 
Here in N. VA they're running $40-ish for a small (~3") specimen, & upward from there for anything larger. What you saw was the norm. Of course, fish prices are rising all over, so who knows ehat the price will be next time.
BTW, my Delhezis are vary in their activity level depending on their individual personalities, however, as I recall, they were definitely less active & hid more when they were still wee little things of 2.5-3".
 
i had to pay $39 for mine at 3" a couple years back. totally worth it ;)
 
Got mine at 3" for 20$, and now its one of the best looking dels Ive seen (IMO), and the same lfs had one for 23$ last week, went in today and it was gone...was so tempted haha. I could tell that one had more of the CB characteristics, mine still probably is CB but a closer generation to wild caught, and a good lookin gal at that ;)
