Any one know if you can piggyback ( run two on one tank) canister filters?

I just wasn't sure if it'd create a crazy amount of current. I have a fluval 405 on my 125 right now. Kinda old but the fx5 are so expensive. Any advice of somethin to piggyback the 405 with? Or should I just bite the bullet?

I run 2 Fx5s on my 110g. The current doesn't seem too strong. Doesn't seem to bother my fish.

you mean have 1 output and intake for 2 canisters? That would be crazy awesome imo

i don't think you could do this. i would assume the intake and outlet tubes are sized for a given amount of flow. if you try running two filters off one set of tubes, it would have to reduce overall flow through each filter. i of course have no way to prove this i am just thinking about head loss and fluid flow.

i run two sunsun 304b's on my 125. the rated flow is 530 gph and everyone is fine. danio's tetra's rhasbora's all move around ok.

Its more of the diameter of the tubes or hoses can handle up to a certain gph! 1/2" is about 400-500gph?? Idk but 1" can handle alot of gph im sure that a plumber will chime in with the correct specs

I have been wondering this for quite a while.... I am running 2 fx5s right now n want a 3rd but to put a 3rd set of intake n outtakes will be alot on my back wall... I want to connect 2 n have the first one filter water the the second all baskets bio media.... Im thinking if i put all baskets in the first one filter pads it would slow down the flow.... Dont know... If anyone have tried this please post the info on how it worked.....
