So i woke up this morning to see my dead proven convict it was the male he was 3-4inches his mate is now caring for their fry which are wrigglers now. when should i introduce another male?

Agreed, clean out all of the fry first. Even if he doesnt eat the fry (and he will) the female could easily view him as a threat and attack him to defend the fry
After the fry is eaten or you clean them out. And new males will be fine like in 2 weeks, after fry is gpne ofcourse
convicts are good parents, let the fry be with the female for 2-3 weeks, then remove the fry or let them be and add your new male.
This will;
1. the fry's will be more self reliant and will probably survive predation from the new male at 3 weeks.
2. rest for the female, it is doubtful it will breed within 2 weeks as she has just had fry's. rest for the female is important between spawning.
