Please identify this strain of flowerhorn

Hi Guys,

My friend has got this flowerhorn but he is not aware what is the strain i.e. the actual group of the flowerhorn. Please help identifying the fish and also from your expertise letme know the age of the fish since my friend was told this fish is 1 yr old.

Zz red dragon, how big is it?

The seller told my friend that this is a bubble-head king golden monkey dragon. Is this correct??? The fish is around 10inch+ big, then what should be its age? Seller told 1 year.

I say red dragon. Looks like the seller made that name up. 10" is an ideal size for a 1yr old fh. Nice looking fish by the way

that is a classic thai zz..seen these guys in bangkok..but its more than a year old..10 inches at one year is just hard to believe..great specimen.

Just wanna know is african mopani wood adviseable to be kept in a flowerhorn tank. The kinda aggressor it is, won't it hurt itself. And Mopani does maintain Ph by leeching tanins. Your views???

Driftwoods leach tanins in water, which brings down the ph to acidic. whereas FH's need basic water for their well being. It is strictly not recommended to add driftwoods to FH tanks if the original source water is not too basic.

What defines "basic" water? FHs are derived from central American cichlid strains, which are used to pretty acidic water, so isn't the FH predisposed toward acidic water? I realize I could be wrong and that's why I ask.
