Hi. Setting up a new tank. Been a few years since i set up my last one and can't remember what type of sand i used. What sand have you guys used for your ray tanks? It must be available in the UK as this is where i live!
Thanks

Unpack tana is what I use it doesn't stick to the rays disk
All maidenhead aquatics sell it

Great thanks, i will go for that then. I have a large bucket of small aquarium gravel that i have used in previous tanks. Would there be any harm in adding this to the tank as well. In a 8x4 it will hardly cover anything and will mix with the sand. I just don't want to throw it away.

no harm in it but most people have moved on from the small gravel as its hard to get the good one

the unipac stuff is not fine like sand more like a very fine gravel its good

Nice size tank...whereabouts in the uk are you? Give the sand a good wash first.

Who is building the tank and what cabinet /stand will you use?

Hi. I am hoping to use ND aquatics. In the middle of sorting out quotes at the moment plus i got some building work to do first. Got a nice intergral double size garage that we are looking to change into a cinema room plus the ray tank. So quite a big project. To be honest i dont think we will be in a position to get the tank for around 2 to 3 months yet. That is why i am spending this valuable time on research!
As for the stand i am not too sure. For my 6x2x2 i built it myself with breeze blocks and a couple os steel angle irons across the top. Been good for the last 5 years. This is bigger though so not sure, But i am thinking wood because i need access for plumbing and waste to drains etc so i could do with out brick walls in the way!

Thanks for detailed reply, you are about half hour drive from me as I am near Hindhead. Add a projector for the cinema room, I did and I love mine in full hd.
