Where did all the albino pacu come from?

I have never seen or heard of an albino pacu until recently, and now it seems like every vendor is selling them. Anyone know the story? I assume someone is breeding them, but where?
...Unless there's a part of the amazon with giant white pacu swimming around just waiting to be caught.

They look sick! My lfs had some but he was selling them for $30! I also have no where for a pacu lol they are true monsters!

To me, the bigger question is, "What's going to happen to them?" They are super cool looking and very novel right now, but their housing requirements are the same as any other Piaractus brachypomus.
 
I think we will expect a newspaper that says "Giant Albino Piranha caught in a local lake" in few years later.

Don't get me wrong, I agree the vast majority of them are probably doomed. I'd be happy if I never saw another one for sale in a LFS. But, it's not what I'm interested in talking about in this thread.
