I am having the hardest time sexing my bichirs........Some sites say the larger ones are female.....Some say to count their top spikes ......And some say to observe their under fins .......When a person has happy and active fish, all of these ideas are rough and challenging to accomplish. Is there an easier way? I do not believe the size theory.....

Easiest way to sex them 100% is the anal fin. It is the fin that is separate from the tail on its underside. Males tend to have larger muscles on that fin. Females have smaller muscles and looks as if it's just a fin with no muscle.
