I would guess a male as the top fin is slightly longer but could also be young to tell

I would say male I have two at 3.5 -,4 inch s my female is yellow and has solid bars with her mouth starting to fade to red . And Male is exact to yours has the two eye spots along top of his body and only displays his bars when he's stressed and even then they are very lite.
