At his size he needs to eat constantly man.. the best thing you could do it buy a nice group of black skirt tetras.. let him nip their fins 24/7.. and once a day feed him your regiment. This is what they do in the wild and will help him grow a little better man. He will also get personality to him from hunting his food and not hide as much. Here is my Rhoms

Hmm never thought of that. For now i use nls .5mm pellets that sink on the bottom and the tank is bare bottom, so in the morning ill throw a pinch in (40) and when i get home from work i vac out the dirty food (50%wc) and add more water then another pinch of nls and samething everyday, i dont read any nitrates but its just him and a couple ghost shrimps plus w/ atleast 50-60% wc perday i shouldnt be reading more then 0-5ppm. And hes been growing fast, hes almost 1 1/2" already so in 2 weeks hes almost doubled. He chomps his pellets like crazy and chases the ghosties so hes a happy lad for now! Im worried if i put other fish in they will nip him and eat his food, this whole baby rhom idea was too keep it 100% simple and quick for a small bio load!

I've been feeding mine the small strips of cod and the strips disappear during the day. He's maybe a little over 2". I had two last week but the dominant one keep the other one from eating and then when he was weak attacked so I'm down to 1. That was in a 55g tank.

You wouldn't have to worry about the others taking his food because they would be his food. This is what comes natural to him at his size and age.. Nip the fins of any fish he can get a hold of. It bring out his natural chase for food and IMO brings out more personality. Sitting pellets do little for that but are good because they are decently balanced nutrition wise. I would still feed those. The other plus to the fin thing is there would be even less load on the bio system. The waste he produces at his size is minimal. There is no need for 50% daily water changes. Introducing that much water per day I'm sure fluctuates the tank temp, the pH, an the natural bacterias that are in our fishes water (hence the fishy smell to it) new water isn't always a good thing. There are also params we don't check regularly that are fluctuating along with that. Keeping his water clean is a must for sure.. but over doing it can also be just as bad.. especially on a young fish. To much stress like that can cause him to stunt growth in every way. Even if he isn't showing signs of it right away.. down the road they will show. Like your reds and how their color is washing out already and it doesn't look like you have any over 10". They have probably been introduced to more stress then needed early in life. With my Rhoms.. I did once a week 25% W.C and once a week 5-10% wc just enough to clean up waste. I don't know any Piranaha that needs daily wc. especially that much new water at once.. I would never change more then 25% at a time. Fluctuation in the water frequently is the worse thing you can do and it is near impossible to match his water exact. Just my 2 cents man lol

My rbps were rescued from a 30gal the guy had 6 plus a big pleco, thier doing awesome now! And their color is brilliant, my pics are taken with a 2mp cell phone, their not washed out and their relative stress has been minimal since i got them!

As for the SERRASALMUS rhom, keeping his water clean is no harm, i check all params daily esp ph! I have an IR thermo so when i fill the bucket the temp is within .1°F and it is added slow with a drip! The reason why is cuz the tank is barebottom and i vac all the crap out daily so its 100% clean and 50% water is usually how much comes out! There isnt nitrite or ammonia so its perfect! In no way am i hurting my fish by keeping his water perfect! Im doing this to prove that nitrates less then 5ppm with a good diet produces a brute! And the bb is housed in media mostly, very little is in the water! Thanks for your concern tho

feed him pellets for the best growth mine grew from quarter size to arould 4 inches in 4-5 months moving from a ten gallon to a 55. Temp was 79F with good water flow. I feed a small peace of beef heart once a week. Good luck with the P keep us posted
