On the road to saltwater

Hello, I currently have a 72 gallon bowfront freshwater tank that I'm considering moving to saltwater, my setup right now is the cascade 1500 (rated for 200 gal), a lighting system that puts off 3.7 watts per gallon, and a heater rated for the tank size. My list of what I think I'm going to need; Hydrometer, circulation pump, thermometer, uv lamp, saltwater test kit, 100 lbs of Sand, (?) Lbs of Live rock and Salt. I understand I will eventually need a protein skimmer but for start I'm gonna try and make as a self-sustaining as possible. I need any suggestions please, from anybody that know what there talking about.

Also I can't afford to fill the whole thing with Fiji live rock and I know it's pretty healthy for you fish and I also need to replace the bio media in my filter so I was wondering if putting crushed up pieces of Fiji live rock into one or two of the six containers in the filter would be a good idea?

What are your future plans with the tank - Fish only or Reef ? Think "PUMPS" not pump - in-tank flow should be at least 10x the tank volume and coming from multiple angles/sides.

I just plan on getting some fish and anemones, the pump I'm getting circulates 1400 gph in a 72 and my filter also gives a strong current

A good salinity reading for Fish + anemones is 1.023. keeping this salinity stable everyday is where you start. I'd hold off on Anemones til' your heads around keeping fish alive 1st. Also saltwater predators, like triggers, and anemones can be a disaster waiting to happen.

I didn't plan on getting anemones until I get some fish living in there for over two weeks and I also don't plan on getting any triggers

hydro yes, get 2 circulation pumps, uv lamp uneccessary, wont need anywhere close to 100lbs of sand, probably 25-30lbs tops you dont want a really deep sand bed, start with about 50lbs of live rock look around on craigslist u can usually find it for 2-3 bucks a lb or better. good luck
